WELCOME TO THE YEAR 1 PAGE

Miss Cunningham and Miss Grace are delighted to be teaching in Year 1. 

Every day, children will have lessons in reading (RML), writing and maths during the morning. In the afternoons, we will be going on our learning adventures. Our first topic is ‘Paws, Claws and Whiskers’ where we will be looking at a wide range of animals and also comparing them to ourselves. After the first half term, our topic will change to ‘Dinosaur Planet’.

Learning at home 

Children will be given a reading book and a reading diary. Please sign their diary each time you listen to your child read. Diaries will be checked weekly and their book will be changed when required.

You can also help your child by:

•  Listening to them read as often as possible & discuss the books.

•  Join a library.

•  Practise counting in 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s.
